One of my favorite childhood memories is: Spending a week at my grandparents’ cottage over the summer with my siblings and cousins for “Camp Port Bay”. We would all spend time on the boat, play games, go fishing, wear matching shirts, and stay up late talking around the campfire.
I love teaching yoga because: It gives me the opportunity to hold space for people in a way that others have held space for me. My teachers have empowered me to feel, heal, grow, be still, and be seen on my mat. I am so grateful to be able to motivate others to do the same and be a witness to the transformative power of this practice.
A life lesson I’ve learned from yoga practice is: We are all perfectly imperfect. You have to forgive and be kind to yourself before you can go out into the world and do the same for those around you.
Three words that describe my teaching style: Intentional, compassionate, evolving
When I’m not teaching yoga you’ll find me: Practicing at breathe, working at Rochester General Hospital as a PA, baking, snuggling with my lab Gus, drinking excessive amounts of coffee, and spending time with my family and friends.
Three people who inspire me are: It is easier to identify three groups of people who inspire me. My family, as they are all the true embodiment of what it means to work hard and be nice to people. My yoga teachers, (especially Lori Roe) for how they empower people to let go of what does not serve them and embrace being courageous. And my medical peers, for their ability to be compassionate and adaptable despite the chaos.
One of my favorite quotes is:
“In any given moment, we have two options: to step forward into growth, or to step back into safety. Growth must be chosen again and again; fear must be overcome again and again.” –Abraham Maslow
